About Rachel:

Rachel A. Volberg, PhD, has conducted research on gambling and problem gambling since 1985. She has directed or consulted on numerous gambling studies around the world, including national prevalence surveys in the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Great Britain, Norway and Sweden and longitudinal cohort studies in Australia, New Zealand, Sweden and the United States.

Dr Volberg is currently the Principal Investigator on the Social and Economic Impacts of Gambling in Massachusetts (SEIGMA) study, funded since 2013 by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission. She has served as a consultant and advisor to governments and private sector organizations in Europe, Asia, and North America on issues relating to gambling research, policy, and service development.

Dr Volberg is highly published and has engaged in extensive service to the field as an advocate for problem gamblers and their families, as a journal reviewer and editor, and as a mentor of young scholars in the field.
