It’s essential to look into the rules of visiting Italy from your jurisdiction well before you travel.

Italy is part of the Schengen Agreement that allows visa-free travel within the European Union (EU) for nationals of certain countries. Schengen is a passport-free zone with 27 member states that covers most European countries. Depending on your nationality, there may be different entry requirements into the Schengen region, but EU nationals can travel freely to Italy with no limits on the length of stay. Outside of the EU, citizens of 60+ countries, including citizens from the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, the USA and Canada can travel visa-free to Italy for a maximum of 90 days within any 180-day period. You will still need a valid passport to enter Schengen countries.

If you are from a country that is not part of the Schengen free-travel agreement, you will most likely require a Schengen visa before arriving in Italy. Some of the countries included in this are Botswana, China, Egypt, India, Indonesia, South Africa and Zimbabwe.

The conference will take place at Parco dei Principi in Rome, Italy. The conference sessions, including the GLI Seminar, will run in the Fernandes Room.

The venues for the Welcome Drinks, Opening Reception and Closing Reception vary from 12 to 25 minutes walk from the Parco dei Principi.

There is no arranged transportation to take you to the networking events. We suggest you arrange a taxi with the hotel concierge if required. Or plan to walk and bring comfortable shoes.

To help ease congestion, we’ll open the registration desk on Sunday evening from 6pm to 7pm at the Parco. If you’ll be there on Sunday, we suggest you head along to get your badge so you can skip the queue on Monday.

We recommend bringing your laptop if you’re the kind of person who likes to type up notes. Bring your mobile phone so you can access the conference app and share your conference highlights on social media. Water, lunch and refreshments will be provided.

The dress code for the conference, the joint Opening Reception and the IMGL Closing Reception is smart casual.

The Gala Dinner is formal, we suggest cocktail wear.

IAGR will host a casual Welcome Drinks on Monday evening. The dress code for this is informal.

No. We’ll have a list of who’s coming at the conference desk, and we’ll give you a name badge to wear throughout the conference.

You will be given a ticket to the Gala Dinner when you register on the conference desk. You’ll need to bring that along with you on the evening to gain access.

Yes, complimentary WiFi access will be available to all attendees. Details will be provided at the conference.

Your conference ticket includes access to the full four-day conference including the GLI Seminar.

This includes refreshments and lunch each day. If you bought your ticket before 4 October, your ticket also includes access to the networking events including the Opening Reception, Closing Reception and Gala Dinner.

If you bought your ticket after 4 October, your ticket excludes entry to the Gala Dinner as this event reached capacity.

Yes, there is a ticket option available for travel partners to attend the social events. If you have already registered your partner then they can join you for the networking events. However the conference is now sold out and no more tickets are available to purchase.

Airport transfer information

The conference is taking place at the same time as the Rome Film Fest. It will be a busy and buzzing time in Rome. If you’re not comfortable catching public transport from the airport to your accommodation, we suggest pre-booking a shuttle service so you have a driver ready to meet you at the airport with a fixed, pre-paid cost. If you catch a taxi, you might need to wait in queue for some time, especially if you arrive in the evening.

Fiumicino Airport

If you’re flying into Fiumicino Airport there are a few options for travel to your accommodation or the conference venue.

Train: The Leonardo Express train will take you directly to Roma Termini station in the city centre in 32 minutes for 14 euros per person. The conference venue is around 2.5km away from the station which would take around 35 minutes to walk, which we don’t recommend with a suitcase or heavy bags!

Taxi: For a more direct route, you can take a taxi from the official taxi rank outside the airport. Airport taxis have a flat rate of 55 euros into the city. It should take around 45 minutes to travel by taxi to each of the hotels mentioned above. Please note that during busy times, there can be a substantial wait for a taxi.

Private transfer: If you don’t want to risk waiting in long queues for the taxis, you can organise a private transfer and a driver to meet you at an arranged meeting point at the airport. Prices start from around 70 euros. There are many operators who provide this service. Here’s a link to one.

Ciampino Airport

Ciampino Airport is closer to central Rome than Fiumicino, and there are a few options to make your way from the airport to your hotel.

Bus: An easy and cheap way to get to Rome Termini Station is by bus, which takes about 40 minutes. Again, you’ll then need to find your way to the hotels which are about 2.5km from the station.

Train: While there’s no train station at the airport, you can catch a five-minute shuttle bus to the Ciampino Station and catch the train to Rome Termini from there.

Taxi: Head to the official taxi rank at the airport to be taken directly to your hotel for a flat rate of 40 euros. Please note during busy times there can be a substantial wait for a taxi.

Private transfer: You can organise for a private transfer and a driver to meet you at an arranged meeting point at the airport. Prices start from around 70 euros. There are many operators who provide this service. Here’s a link to one.

Gaming Laboratories International (GLI) has kindly put together a seminar on the morning of Monday 21 October, before the conference kicks off in the afternoon.

All attendees are welcome to attend the seminar (included in full conference registration), which will take place in the same location as the conference. If you haven’t already done so, you can register to attend the seminar by logging into the event ticketing page and adding the seminar.

In Italy there are three plug types, types C, L and F. However, a two-pin C plug will work in any of the three potential socket types. This is the plug which has two round pins.
