IAGR President Ben Haden

President comments: November 2024

A huge thanks to all who attended, presented and participated in our Rome joint conference with IMGL. With over 450 attendees from 60 countries, the conference underscored IAGR’s unique value as a collaborative global forum.

It was motivating to see so many regulators, legal experts and industry stakeholders engage in forward-looking discussions, each interaction helping to shape our collective understanding of effective gaming regulation.

It’s important to note that the value of the conference always extends far beyond the walls of the conference hall. The conversations on the sidelines forge understanding and agreements that propel global regulation forward.

For example, the UK Gambling Commission and Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) during the conference. Under the MoU terms, Lagos and the UK will collaborate to share knowledge, expertise and resources to bolster the gaming regulatory framework in Lagos and enforce measures against illegal lottery operations.

Looking forward, we’re already starting to plan our 2025 conference in Toronto. We’ll be opening our call for speakers early next year, so start thinking about how you might contribute to another impactful conference.

Finally, I’m delighted to welcome our newest IAGR member, the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ivory Coast (ARJH Cote d’Ivoire), who joined us during the conference. It’s an exciting time to expand our network, bringing even more diversity of experience and perspectives into our discussions.
