Lisa Wardall

Lisa is the Executive Director for the California Gambling Control Commission (Commission). As the Executive Director, Lisa is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and strategic direction of the Commission’s operations. Lisa is also an advisor to the Commission’s Gaming Policy Advisory Committee (GPAC) and was previously a voting member of the GPAC.

Prior to joining the Commission, Lisa served in various leadership capacities for the California Department of Justice (DOJ), including seven years with the Bureau of Gambling Control (Bureau). Lisa’s most recent position with the Bureau was as Assistant Director, where she managed the Licensing Branch. Lisa developed and implemented policies and procedures related to the effective regulation of controlled gambling in California and directly oversaw the completion of complex background investigations for a multitude of license types.

In addition to her time with the Bureau, Lisa’s tenure with DOJ includes several leadership positions within the Division of Law Enforcement (Division) where she was responsible for the oversight of a multitude of administrative and program functions to advance public safety. These include experience in the Division’s Office of the Chief, as the Staff Services Manager III overseeing all administrative functions including the Division’s multi-funded $203 million budget. Lisa also worked for the Division’s Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement (BNE) where she supported various statewide programs, including the Clandestine Laboratory Enforcement Program, Special Operations, and Task Force Programs, managed the BNE’s multi-funded $53 million budget, and provided administrative support to BNE staff statewide.
