Nomination Process
Nominations
- In accordance with the IAGR Bylaws, nominations of new members to the Board may be made by any member of IAGR, including current members of the Board. Such Nominations shall have a Proposer and a Seconder with no more than one being from the same jurisdiction as the nominee.
Announcement of Nominees
- A list of all nominees will be announced to the membership prior to the October 21 Annual General Meeting. If necessary, the voting members will cast their ballots in person during the meeting to elect the new Trustees.
Ballot versus Automatic Confirmation
- Per Section 6.4(2) of the IAGR Bylaws, if the number of nominees is equal to or fewer than the number of available vacancies, the nominees will be automatically confirmed as Board of Trustees members at the 2025 Annual General Meeting of the membership.
Candidate Qualifications & Considerations
Please consider the following in making your nominations.
- First and foremost, only nominate individuals who have indicated a willingness to invest significant time and effort into being a Trustee. These are working positions of responsibility.
- Ideally, it is preferred that Trustees attend in person where possible, the annual Board of Trustees meeting held in conjunction with the annual conference (October), and one coinciding with the ICE tradeshow (January) and potentially one in either May or June coinciding with either the GREF or NAGRA conference. Trustees will also participate in numerous email exchanges and multiple conference calls. Those unable to attend the meetings in person are expected to join via videoconference.
- Think about geographical and membership representation in making your nominations. For example, does the individual you plan to nominate come from an already substantially represented region?
- The nominee has the support of senior leadership within their respective organisation to hold such a position.
- The needs of the organisation and board change over time, and specific skills are required to meet the issues and opportunities that arise globally. Therefore, we would welcome nominations from those who hold a particular interest in: Communications, technology, illegal gambling, and sports betting integrity.
- We strongly believe that diverse boards make better decisions. We welcome nominations from all backgrounds and particularly encourage nominations of individuals who can help us build a board that truly reflects the global communities we serve.
- IAGR is committed to inclusive leadership. We recognise that the best insights often come from those with different lived experiences and perspectives. Our board meetings are structured to ensure all voices are heard, and we provide comprehensive onboarding to support new trustees in making immediate contributions.
- We encourage you to think broadly about potential candidates in your networks. Excellence comes in many forms, and we’re committed to considering all qualified candidates who can strengthen our governance.
- In order to make a nomination, the proposer, the seconder, and the individual being nominated must be paid members of IAGR in good standing.
