About Karin:

Dr. Karin Schnarr joined the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) as CEO and Registrar in September 2023 after successful careers in government, management consulting and academia. Her role at the AGCO includes regulatory oversight of the province’s alcohol, gaming (land-based and online), retail cannabis, and horseracing sectors. Before joining the AGCO, Karin was an Associate Professor, Strategic Management, at the Lazaridis School of Business & Economics at Wilfrid Laurier University (Laurier) where she led the BBA and MBA programs and served on the University’s Senate and Board of Governors. ​

Karin has extensive Board of Directors and governance experience across multiple sectors and industries including serving as Chair of the Ontario Government’s Task Force on Women and the Economy in 2021. She also served as the Chair of the Board of the Higher Education Quality Council of Ontario, two terms as the Vice-Chair of the Waterloo Regional Police Services Board and as a member of the iGaming Ontario Board where she chaired the Corporate Affairs Committee.
