IAGR2023 Session:
Let’s have a ‘yarn’ about gambling harm in First Nations communities
About Victoria:
As Deputy Director-General of Liquor, Gaming and Fair Trading (LGFT) in Queensland, Australia, Victoria leads a highly-skilled, dedicated team that delivers on the vision of ‘safe and empowered communities, and fair and responsible markets’.
Since joining LGFT in 2019, Victoria has demonstrated her commitment to minimizing risks associated with gambling. Critical to her regulatory approach was the development of the Gambling Harm Action Plan for Queensland 2021-25 – a shared plan for government, industry and the community to focus efforts in reducing harm. The Plan based around four key pillars (leadership and culture, technology and environment, regulatory frameworks and a public health approach) is being progressively implemented through a partnership model.
Victoria has enjoyed over 25 years of public service in various regulatory and central government agency roles. She is a member of the Australia and New Zealand School of Government’s National Regulators Community of Practice (Queensland Chapter).
