BRAZIL’S CASINO BILL DELAYED

Intergame online (11 December 2017) reports that Discussions on legalising casinos in Brazil will have to wait until next year as local media reported a scheduled vote on Wednesday was delayed due to arguments over taxes.

Senators have added new provisions to the bill that include a required local partnership with a 30 per cent gaming tax.

The Constitutionality and Justice Committee has now decided to delay a decision on Bill 186 as they review the impact of gambling at the state level. The committee may reportedly ban slots outside of casino properties, as well.

A majority vote is required to get the committee’s approval, though 12 of the 27 judges have said they will not approve the bill in its current form.
