Peter Cohen takes over as the new Chair of the International Association of Gaming Regulators with effect of 1 November 2009. Peter is the Executive Commissioner and CEO of the Victorian Commission for Gambling Regulation in Australia. He is taking over from André Wilsenach, the CEO of the Alderney Gambling Control Commission, Channel Islands.
André Wilsenach commented "I am very pleased to hand over the chairmanship of IAGR to Peter who is internationally highly regarded as a gambling regulator. Peter brings with him extensive knowledge and experience of regulating the gambling industry and I have no doubt that Peter is the ideal person for the position. I wish him and his team all of the very best for 2009/10."
Peter Cohen commented, "I am delighted to take on the role of Chair of IAGR. In these challenging times for industry and regulators, I propose to work toward further improving the relationships among regulators as well as working with industry to instill an attitude of continuous improvement in gambling regulation."
Peter Cohen also paid tribute to retiring Chair, André Wilsenach. Peter said, "André has been a beacon during a most difficult period. His endeavor, persistence and hard work have provided outstanding leadership for the association over the last 12 months."
